Amitabh Bachchan-Akshay Kumar starrer Aankhen made it to the headlines a long time ago due to the announcement of its sequel. Directed by Vipul Shah, it also featured Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal in lead roles. Soon after making official about taking the franchise forward, the project went off track.
Aankhen was directed by Vipul Shah and produced by Gaurang Doshi and in 2016, he declared the sequel with Anees Bazmee coming on board. The star cast was too declared with Amitabh Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Regina Cassandra, roped in to play the lead roles. But the project never took off and now the way seems to get harder with obstacles coming in.
According to the report of Deccan Chronicle, there are some issues over title between Gaurang and the production house.
A source close to the development reveals, “Rajtaru Studios claimed that they owned the title and the film’s content, and sidelined Doshi from it. Anees continued on the project and the others were out. Recently, Gaurang registered the title Aankhen Returns, leading to Rajtaru firing a missive and a notice. Doshi has now reciprocated with another notice. As it stands, till this is sorted out, there will be no sequel.”
