After getting stuck in several controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati might get a clearance from the Censor Board of Certification today.

Earlier, Padmavati was supposed to release on December 1. But till now, the film hasn’t been released.

All this drama led to the postponement of the films’ release. According to a report in After Hrs, “the CBFC had refused to certify Padmavati as the disclaimer (whether it is based on fiction or historical facts) had not been mentioned by the makers. Now, the new disclaimer has raised questions about how the film is viewed and certified by the CBFC.”

If Padmavati gets a certificate from the CBFC today, then the producers will decide when to release the film. In the report, After Hrs quoted an exhibitor saying, “There’s been no official intimation from the producers. Whenever they plan to release it, we will be happy to give them the promised number of screens.”

Another source was quoted saying, “Once the certificate comes, the producers will decide when they want to release Padmavati. As of now, they’re looking at January 5 and January 12.” However, another source said,Padmavati will only release in February next year. It’s looking for a vacant spot so that it gets a longer run at the cinemas.”

The story of Padmavati revolves around the life of Rani Padmavati and the role of Padmavati has been essayed by Deepika Padukone. Apart from Deepika, there are Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh, who is a brave Rajput warrior and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, who is an antagonist in the story.
