Director Sanjay Gupta, who has been booked by the Mumbai Police for an invitation sent out to media persons for the launch of his film, Shootout At Wadala, was denied anticipatory bail by a sessions court in Mumbai on 5 March 2012, Mumbai Mirror reported.
However, Gupta’s lawyer approached the Bombay High Court which then stayed the lower court’s order. The matter will now be heard in the high court on 7 March.
Gupta had earlier denied any wrongdoing on his part. According to the report, Gupta’s lawyer commented that Balaji Motion Pictures, the producers of the film, were responsible for the marketing and promotion of Shootout At Wadala and hence the director was not responsible for the said invite.
