Padosan, a 1968 comedy hit featured Sunil Dutt, Kishore Kumar, Saira Banu in lead and received praises specially for the jugalbandi between Kumar and ‘Masterji’ Mehmood. Now, actor Sanjay Dutt has acquired the rights of his father’s movie and if reports are to believed, he wishes for the new gen favourites – Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao to be a part.
A recent report by mid-day suggests the same, further revealing that he’s planning to give the story a twist and roping in Ayushmann & Rajkummar for special roles. “The friendly banter between Kishore Kumar and Mehmood was the highlight of the film. While Sanjay is interested in playing Kumar’s iconic character Vidyapati, he hopes to rope in Govinda for Mehmood’s Masterji act. He is also toying with the idea of giving it a twist — the story will apparently see a rapper pitted against a young man who practises classical music, with Vidyapati and Masterji acting as their mentors. He wishes to cast Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana for these roles,” reveals the source close to the development.
Sanjay + Govinda + Ayushmann + Rajkummar – now that’s one combo we’re totally looking forward to!
