The royal lineage has proved to be quite beneficial for Saif Ali Khan. While shooting for a certain sequence of his film Race 2, he had to perform a fencing sequence for the film. It took him no convincing to do the scene and he was ready to shoot for the scene after practicing his lessons for merely three days. He was quite apt with his lessons because of his prior knowledge of the task, it seems.
Sources inform us that Saif had to perform an elaborate sword fight scene with Jacqueline Fernandez which also included a duel. Jacqueline took days to learn fencing, but the Nawab of Patudi, given his royal skills, was already trained in sword fighting as a c child and seemed to catch up quite quickly.
The directors Abbas Mustan confirmed the news to a leading daily. They said that the actress, Jacqueline was completely clueless about sword fighting and this required the action director Peter Heins to call for trainers to coach her. They were flown down from abroad. However, Heins was impressed with Saif. His royal family background had ensured that Saif is imbibed with these skills, which came handy during the shoot of Race 2.
Divulging more information from Peter Heins, he said he refrained from using body doubles. Jacqueline who is an expert in yoga learnt ropes very quickly. She had been training largely for action stunts and sequences and given her background in yoga and cross fit, she was quick to learn and was hence able to match up to Saif’s level of aptness in fencing. Intriguingly, Saif had performed a similar sequence opposite Aamir Khan for Yash Chopra’s Parampara and Race 2 was his second attempt at it in films.
