A lot of rumours are going around the film Saare Jahan Se Achcha, a film based on the life of astronaut Rakesh Sharma. The film was first offered to Aamir Khan who suggested Shah Rukh Khan’s name to the makers. However, last year, the SRK walked out of the project.

Later, names like Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor popped up to be a part of the film. But even that didn’t work out. Since then, many things have been written about the film’s fate and it getting shelved. So is Saare Jahan Se Achcha really getting shelved? Read on.

In an interaction with PTI, the film’s producer Siddharth Roy Kapur revealed that they are definitely going to make the film. He said, “We are waiting for it to happen like bated breath. There is nothing to say on it right now (in terms of casting) as and when we will have an announcement to make, we will. It is not shelved. We definitely want to make it.”

Saare Jahan Se Achcha will be helmed by Mahesh Mathai and the script is written by Anjum Rajabali. About them, Roy said, “It is a wonderful script. Mahesh and Anjum Rajabali (writer) have been working on it for the last few years. Ronnie Screwala (producer) and I are committed to make it,”
