Since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June, the insider-outsider debate and nepotism discussions are happening in the industry. Many Bollywood A-listers and star kids are being targeted in this. The latest celeb who is come under fire for the same is Bollywood director, Rohit Shetty.
A two-year-old video of Shetty is going viral. In this video, the action director talks about how and why he hired Sid Ali Khan’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan for his 2018 film Simmba.
While promoting the movie on The Kapil Sharma Show, with Sara and Ranveer Singh, Rohit Shetty said he got emotional seeing Sara beg him for a role. He said, “Sir please mujhe kaam dedo, isne aise kiya literally (pleading with folded hands) Saif Ali Khan ki beti ne. Amrita Singh aur Saif Ali Khan ki daughter akele chal ke office mein aana and ek director ke saamne baith ke ye kehna ki sir mereko kaam dedo please, mujhe rona aagaya. Maine bola tu picture kar le.”

Rohit Shetty said he cried and gave the role instantly when sara ali khan asked for a role.
Because, she is “saif ali khan ki beti”
Thousands of normal kids beg for roles, get rejected and ignored.
Clapping on these stupid stories is how we have normalized nepotism. pic.twitter.com/i5k4MJL6qa

For those who do not know, Sara Ali Khan has two releases in December 2018. Her debut film was Kedarnath, co-starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A couple of weeks later, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba released.
Last year, Sara Ali Khan accepted that star kids have it easier in Bollywood. She said “I definitely believe that knowing people in the industry does help. That’s not a fact that I can run away from. I’ve often admitted to the fact that the biggest advantage of nepotism is the fact that we have easy access to people. I can call up Karan Johar without doing any film. I can go to Rohit Shetty’s office. So these are privileges I’m well aware of.” She added, “There’s also a level of protection that we enjoy. Not that we’ve asked for it, not that we choose our parents and not that we need to work any less hard. But anyone who denies this isn’t cool,”
Rohit Shetty is currently hosting reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi: Made In India.
