The #RIPPriyankaReddy hashtag has been trending ever since we woke up to a terrible news yesterday morning, when a vet doctor name Priyanka Reddy was gang-raped and cops found her body burnt in Hyderabad. The news left the country horrified, and amongst all the rage, some Bollywood actors have put forth their views too. Yesterday we saw Akshay Kumar condemning the act.

Richa Chadha: Her only crime was she trusted these men who promised to fix her scooty.Perpetrators are given the harshest punishment, they don’t belong in society. They won her trust and then brutalized her. Treated her like a thing, not a human being. Condolences to family #priyanakareddy

Men rape women. Other men get online and threaten to rape women for not making enough noise about the rape. What do you want losers? It’s not a communal issue, it’s a gender issue. If you want to make a change, start with yourself. We are raising sons wrong in this country.

Farhan Akhtar: What those men did to #Priyanka_Reddy is another dark reminder of how unsafe we’ve allowed our society to become by not delivering swift and telling justice in these cases..! Heart goes out to her family in their hours of unimaginable grief.

And what is going to be done about the minor allegedly involved if found guilty..? For what it’s worth, I feel that if you’re old enough to knowingly commit a crime this brutal, you’re old enough to face real consequences.
