100 days have gone by since the release of Bol Bachchan and despite playing the central protagonist and also winning some good appreciation for himself, Abhishek Bachchan is surprisingly lying low when it comes to picking on newer films.
“It was four years after Dostana that Abhishek had enjoyed a big money spinner to his name with Bol Bachchan. His big budgeted affairs like Players, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se, Raavan, Delhi 6 and Drona were expected to place him in the big league but they instead pushed him further away from stardom. Thankfully with Bol Bachchan he is back in the business now. He is not going to blow it away by signing films in a hurry now,” says an insider.

This is the reason why the only film which he is currently working on is Dhoom 3 which was signed many months back. However ever since then there hasn’t been any official announcement yet on him picking on any other film.

“Though it is more or less certain that he would be coming along with Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, he is not talking about it yet. Perhaps the makers themselves will reveal the entire starcast of the multistarrer and Abhishek’s name would also come out in open. However till then he is keeping a low profile,” the insider continues.
Meanwhile, even though Karan Johar is committed to make Dostana 2 with him and John Abraham, an endless delay in the film’s launch has made one wonders if the film would ever happen. Also, there have been stray talks of him playing Madhavan’s character in Tamil flick Vettai remake. He is reportedly also under consideration for Bhavna Talwar’s biopic on Rajiv Gandhi.
A source adds, “As of now nothing is official yet. Such speculations are not uncommon when an actor takes his time before formally consenting to any project or two. This is just a conscious call taken by him but do expect bigger announcements early next year. There is a lot more in the pipeline for him than just Dhoom 3 and Happy New Year. It is a matter of waiting for the best and then announcing at the right time.”
