Be it Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai, an unusually uncommon urban story for its times or Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti, he is known to raise the bar of dedication for all his co-actors by obliging them to raise the standard of their work higher. He renders his infectious energy to the film’s script and all his co-actors. When we talk of Crème de le crème in mainstream Bollywood, we foremost are surely referring to Aamir Khan.

Perhaps the only time this man signed a film without reading the script was Dev Anand’s Awwal Number, in which he played a cricketer. Each of his films is different, speaking volumes of his multi-faceted work. Lagaan, set in the post Independence Era giving an unthought-of of newer dimension to non-violent aggression, 3 Idiots sliced out straight from Pink Floyd’s message of Not being Just Another wall in the brick, Taare Zameen Par, fighting the pathos of a child’s dyslexia to prove genius can be manifold and not necessarily academic and many more such exquisite films that will undoubtedly go down in the history of Indian cinema.
The 30-second delightful ad capsules of innumerable Coca Cola, Tata Sky, Titan and Samsung advertisements are almost impossible to forget, mostly because of Aamir Khan. Yaaran Da Tashan Jatt to Doodhwala, Manno Bhabhi to Dinu Kaka, Nepali Sherpa to Bangali Babu, he is a master of advertising and disguises slipping easily into every character he plays. Every ad of his is a mini caricature of life-size characters so well fitted into the limited slot.
He has always harnessed brand image putting it to good use. The goodwill ambassador to the UNICEF and many such humanitarian causes saw a culmination into his first stint at the television. While other contemporaries easily choose anchoring game shows, judging reality shows, he chose an unusual show to launch himself in TV. Satyamev Jayate was a show which brought out the inside closet evils of Indian society naked in public, up for debate and discussion. Bitterly criticized, running into several controversies, Aamir stood staunchly by his belief in the causes he spoke of and his team which worked so hard at lucidly putting together the crucial aspect of an issue, palatable enough for telecast without being a drag. With the humungous success of Season 1, the much-awaited second season of the show is scheduled to go on floors soon.
Aamir Khan has often been criticized by many as arrogant and bossy, yet one cannot simply overlook this man. He is professional, sincere and rejects mediocrity.
