The Aashiqui 2 fame singer Ankit Tiwari was granted bail on Thursday by the Mumbai Sessions court. Ankit, who was taken into custody on May 8th by the Versova police station, after a woman accused him of rape, was asked to furnish a cash bond of Rs 20,000.
The bail application presented by Ankit’s lawyer stated of false implications being put up on him by the woman. The application mentioned of several flaws in the victim’s statement. According to Ankit’s bail plea, the victim who alleged to be his girlfriend is married and has a child.

Although, according to the victim, the singer had repeatedly raped her between October 2012 and December 2013 on the promise of getting married to her.

The singer’s brother too was held for threatening the victim.
