Raja Mukerji, brother of leading Bollywood heroine Rani Mukerji, was arrested on Sunday on charges of molestation. Rani Mukerji has been a lot in news lately due to the release of her film, Aiyyaa which marked her comeback after a year long break she took from films. The victim is a Telivision actress whose identity has been withheld by the police. Raja is mainly a film and television serial director and sources inform that the victim was perhaps acquainted with him professionally.
The Versova Police took the case in hand and conducted medical tests on Raja. He was arrested soon after. The Police have given an official statement saying that the woman had met Raja to narrate a script and Raja apparently tried to molest her in a car. Raja is currently in Andheri jail and shall be produced in court today.
Rani’s close friend Aditya Chopra was also unavailable during this time, as his father Yash Chopra is down with dengue and is hospitalized. On the box office front, Aiyyaa has bombed quite badly. It is undoubtedly one tough time for the lovely lady!
