Sanju delved into various aspects of Sanjay Dutt’s life, including drug addiction, his arrest in the 1993 Bombay bombings, his relationship with his father, and his acting career. Ranbir Kapoor played the titular role, while Dia Mirza played his wife, Manyata Dutt.
As per several online reports, Sanjay Dutt negotiated hard with the makers of Sanju. He knew he was worth a hefty price and finalized the deal for a whopping 10 crore. That’s not it; he also earned a part of the box office profits, although the amount remains undisclosed.

Sanju was made on an estimated budget of 80 crores. This means Sanjay Dutt was paid around 12.5% of the total cost. The overall earnings would have been much greater given the film was a tremendous success at the box office.

Critics, as well as the audience, were mesmerized by Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation. And there’s no doubt that the actor had given his blood and sweat to the project. And he agreed to do that only at a meaty price!
Ranbir Kapoor reportedly took home a salary of a whopping 25 crores for portraying Sanjay Dutt on-screen. This means that the actor charged almost 31% of the total budget, which is huge. One cannot deny that his high remuneration was totally worth it, given how convincing he looked on the big screens.
Rajkumari Hirani directorial earned a sum of 541.76 crores gross in its lifetime at the worldwide box office. This includes 436.76 crores from India and the remaining 105 crores from the international markets.
Sanju turned out to be the fourth most profitable film of all time in Bollywood. Ranbir Kapoor’s duper-duper hit affair registered a return on investment of 261.22 crores, which in percentage is about 326.52%.
The biographical comedy-drama Sanju was produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films. The supporting cast included Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Jim Sarbh, Manisha Koirala, Karishma Tanna, Tabu, and Arshad Warsi, among others.
