Ramayana Starts: Ranbir Kapoor To Shoot On A Huge 11 Crore Ayodhya Set, Long Wait For Hanuman Sunny Deol & Dashrath Arun Govil To Join

Ramayana was rumored to be delayed unexpectedly, but the film's shooting has commenced. Here are the major updates of the film.

A lot of confusion and rumors have been spread about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, and it was said that the film will not happen anytime soon and will be delayed. But contrary to the reports, the film shooting has commenced, and a grand announcement is on its way to Ram Navami.

Ranbir is supposed to join the shoot in mid-April, and it will be followed by Sai Pallavi and Yash shooting their parts later. The three actors play Ram, Sita, and Ravana in the film.

The construction of the sets of Ayodhya and other major parts is still being processed, and the actors will join as soon as the construction of the sets is complete. Currently, a Gurukul set has been constructed, and scenes of Lord Rama’s growing up years are being shot before an official announcement.

Ranbir Kapoor Undergoes 3D Scan

As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Ranbir Kapoor has undergone several 3D scans for his role of Lord Rama. The VFX makers of the film were working on his look and other details in Los Angeles. The actor will be in India soon to commence shooting his part.

Sunny Deol To Join Later

The Lahore actor plays Lord Hanuman in the film, and he will join the second film schedule, which will commence in July. Till then, Sunny will wrap up other commitments before dedicating his entire time to playing Ram Bhakt.

Arun Govil To Join After Elections?

The OG Lord Ram of the Indian Television, Arun Govil, is reportedly playing Dashrath in the film. But since the actor is contesting elections from Meerut, he will join the shoot after the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Yash & Sai Pallavi Busy?

Currently, only Ranbir Kapoor will commence the shoot in mid-April, while Yash, who is currently busy in Toxic, will join the shoot in July. He has to shoot for his portions separately, and the set for Lanka will take 50 – 60 days to complete. Even Sai Pallavi is expected to join the shoot in July.

An 11 Crore Set?

Reports suggest that a huge set worth 11 crore has been made for Ayodhya. Similarly, sets for Gurukul, Lanes of Ayodhya, Forest for exile, and others are being created separately and will take up a huge amount of the budget. The second most expensive set might be creating Mithila for Ram-Sita Swayamvar!

For the unversed, Ramayana is speculated to be a three-part film that will delve into detailed incidents and tales from the epic. The first part will end with Sita’s abduction, and hence, Ravana, played by Kannada superstar Yash, will have a very short role to play in part 1 – only for Sita Swayamvar and the abduction.
