When it comes to Bollywood, is the con game really a novel idea? Probably not! But one cannot help but sit up and notice when an Emraan Hashmi puts on his garishly dressed attire and puts up an inviting trailer for his audiences. Hashmi has earlier done many films that have him playing the criminal but this is the first time, he is playing it subtle slipping in as the conman.

The actor in an interview to Koimoi elaborated upon the tapestry of the film. He said, “Most of the research for this film has been done by the writers of this film and Kunal. But this film obviously covers the entire gamut of the con game. There are all kinds of scams in our country. From a political one to a small one, everything exists in India – from small frauds to big frauds. The film primarily hits on what goes behind robbing someone off 3000 crores. It is done in a very entertaining way because the man who executes it doesn’t have even 2 rupees in his pocket and is trying to bring down a man worth thousands of crores.”

Adding to the same, the actor said, “It might seem like an impossible task and that’s when he goes to Dharamshala to seek a burnt out, retired conman who has done everything and denounced the city life. He is dragged back so that he can teach him the game of the long con and the long scam. It is easy to sink your teeth into the character of a criminal’s grey shades but the grey shades of a conman is different. Besides the physical work that goes into laying the plot, it is the intelligence that works. My chemistry with Paresh ji is a typical Kung Fu Panda style!”

When Paresh Rawal was asked about his co-star Emraan, he gleamed with ‘bada hi napa tola actor hai’. The veteran actor was all full of kind words for Hashmi. Hashmi too conceded that after his chemistry with Humaima Malick in the film, it is his chemistry with Paresh that works in the frame.

Raja Natwarlal is directed by Kunal Deshmukh and will release this Friday.
