Yesterday, Bollywood actor Rahul Bose, who is currently shooting for a film in Chandigarh, put a video on his Twitter account. In the video, he was seen being sarcastic about how he was charged Rs.442 for two bananas by a luxurious hotel.
He also mentioned how it was tagged as fruit platter and he was even charged with GST on it. He captioned the video as, “You have to see this to believe it. Who said fruit wasn’t harmful to your existence? Ask the wonderful folks at JW Marriott Chandigarh.”

According to the Indian Express, Deputy Commissioner and Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar said a high level investigation would take place for the illegal charge of GST. He said, “Taking cognisance of the video and bill posted by the actor, I have ordered an investigation. I have directed Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Rajeev Chaudhary to conduct a thorough probe on how the hotel had charged GST on fresh fruits. Strict action will be taken if found guilty.”
