It’s not only Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mallika Sherawat and Minnisha Lamba who will be sashaying down the red carpet at Cannes this summer. Ragini will be there too!
Siddharth Jain, co-producer of Ragini MMS, has decided to take his film to Cannes this year.
Though the “sensuous paranormal” film won’t be part of the official screenings, Siddharth will be exploring opportunities of selling the film at the Marché du Film (film market) of the Festival de Cannes. The CEO of iRock Media hopes to sell the film in foreign markets like Korea, where horror is a big genre. The Cannes film market, considered to be the biggest event in the international film industry, helps filmmakers, exhibitors and distributors meet, discover, trade, negotiate, buy, and sell films.
Siddharth’s idea to promote and market the film at Cannes is in line with the strategy of co-producers, ALT Entertainment, Balaji Telefilms & iRock. After all, the producers decided to shoot ‘Ragini MMS’ in two languages, Hindi and Telugu, after they realised that horror films are quite a rage in the Telugu market.
‘Ragini MMS’ releases this Friday, the 13th (May 13th, 2011).
