Priyanka Chopra On Zaira Wasim’s Exit From Bollywood: “Who Are We To Dictate?”

Priyanka Chopra is back in town for the promotions of her upcoming movie, The Sky Is Pink, alongside Farhan Akhtar. The actress during the promotions spoke in length about her upcoming projects, Salman Khan & the Bharat row, etc. But one thing that caught our attention was her reaction on Dangal fame actress Zaira Wasim’s decision of quitting the Industry.

Zaira had shocked the entire industry and fans with her decision of quitting the Industry in July when her long post claimed that B’Town was turning out to be an obstruction between her and her religious beliefs. Reacting to her co-star’s decision in a conversation with Mumbai Mirror, PeeCee said, “It’s a personal choice. Who are we to dictate what someone should and shouldn’t do? She is an amazing actor who has done incredible work. We will always wish her the best.”

The Sky Is Pink is Zaira’s last movie in the Industry. The actress joined the makers at Toronto for TIFF 2019 and unfortunately, received a lot of backlash from the netizens for making an appearance despite quitting.

The movie directed by Shonali Bose received a 4-minute standing ovation at TIFF 2019 and left the audience teary-eyed with its heart touching concept.

Meanwhile, in a detailed post on her Facebook page, the 18-year-old cited religious reasons for her decision to quit her promising career in Bollywood. “I started to become the prime candidate of public attention, I was projected as the gospel of the idea of success and was often identified as a role model for the youth. However, that’s never something that I set out to do or become, especially with regards to my ideas of success and failure, which I had just started to explore and understand.,” she wrote.
