It’s confirmed – Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya won’t have a sequel to its name. Ever since the release of the film, many close to Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza had proposed that the film deserved a sequel. Moreover with them being a married couple, the film would have fetched good buzz, hype and mileage for itself. However, as of today, the makers aren’t enthused with the idea since they couldn’t crack a right story.

“As far as the core story of Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is concerned, it reached its culmination. The film had a happy ending and there is no reason why it should be stretched any further”, comments an insider related to the film.

However, from business standpoint it would have been lucrative to bring the pair back for a sequel. Moreover, Ritesh’s track record in sequels (Housefull, Dhamaal, Kya Kool Hain Hum) has been terrific. Also, he shares a 100% track record with Genelia D’Souza (Tujhe Meri Kasam, Masti, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya).

“This is another reason why we have dropped the idea for the film’s sequel”, says producer Kumar Taurani, “Ritesh and Genelia are a married couple today and if I have to bring them back, it would be with a film which is even more exciting. We realised that it was very difficult to even get the basic story in place for TNLHG sequel. I don’t want to just encash on the film’s popularity.”

He isn’t closed to the thought of building Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya as a franchise.

“Yes, we are working on another altogether fresh love story that has elements of romance and comedy to it. If it fits into the template of TNLHG, we would term it as TNLHG – 2″, he says,

Well, taking into consideration the fact that Bhatts are anyways minting big money on the basis of franchises (Murder, Jannat, Raaz, Jism), it won’t be a bad idea to see a romantic addition as well.
