When Shashank Khaitan announced that his next Mr. Lele with Varun Dhawan is shelved due to date issues, it didn’t seem to be true. Varun Dhawan who embarked on his Bollywood journey with a bang, he gave 11 consecutive successful films. The 32-year-old actor entered the list of A-listers very early in his career. But sadly, his last 2 outings Kalank and Street Dancer 3D turned out to be disasters at the box office.

A source close to the development revealed to SKJ Bollywood News, “After the unexpected failure of Street Dancer 3D, Varun has decided to be ruthless about his career decisions. Although Shashank is a close friend, Varun flatly told Karan Johar that he didn’t think the script was up to the mark.”

Varun Dhawan To Reinvent Himself: Opts Out Of 2 Projects
Owing To Street Dancer 3D Failure, Varun Dhawan Exits Both Mr. Lele &  Ranbhoomi?

Apparently, Mr. Lele is not the only film the actor has opted out of. Varun also opted out of Ranbhoomi which was being produced by his mentor Karan Johar. Post Kalank’s failure, Varun was hesitant towards doing another costume drama.

The actor-director duo holds a 100% success record, as both their films of the Dulhaniya franchise were superhits. It would be interesting to see the fate of his next Coolie No. 1 with Sara Ai Khan. As both, the actors require success after the failure of their previous films.
