In their second film together, OK Jaanu which is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s successful South venture OK Kanmani, they are once again promising some great chemistry.
The trailer of the film dropped this morning and well, with A R Rahman’s song in the background, it was hard to ignore it.
Taking off with a scene where Naseeruddin Shah, asks the couple in question if they eloped together, while the couple replies, “Hume Shaadi Nahi Karni”
Yes! It is another film that will throw some light on live-in relationships. The question here is, can a relationship among two ambitious people whose work calls for their separation thrive because of pure habit or love.
Shaad Ali’s direction looks fresh and is high on the vibes of rebel romances such as Saathiya, Love Aajkal and so on. Since the South drama has been immensely popular, there is going to be ample of comparison between the two. I’m not sure if Ali will be able to match the standards of a veteran filmmaker like Mani Ratnam but he could definitely pull off a la Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 success.
With the release date set in January, it is kind of a good time for a ‘feel-good’ film to release. Rahman’s music is expected to be kickass and we hear, he may even revive the OK Kanmani soundtrack for this one.
All in all, OK Jaanu could be the perfect frothy romance you want to watch at the start of the new year.
