Earlier this month, rumours were floating around that actor Arjun Kapoor will be leading the Hindi remake of the 2017 Telugu film, Arjun Reddy. However, according to latest reports, it has now emerged that someone else has been chosen to play the part in the remake.
If reports are to be believed, Padmaavat star Shahid Kapoor has been finalised to play the titular character. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of the original Telugu film will be taking the reins for the Hindi remake as well.

While this film marks his Hindi directorial debut, it will be produced by Murad Khetani and Ashwin Warde, who have already bought the rights to the Hindi version. Shahid, who had been in talks for the role with the makers for a while now, is even rumoured to have said yes for the project earlier this week. With this green light, the team is slated to start pre-production work soon. According to Mumbai Mirror, source affiliated with the project said, “The film is scheduled to go on the floors in July and the team is looking for an actress opposite Shahid at the moment. While the locations are yet to be finalised, the plan is to shoot in India as well as abroad.”

The Telugu original, which revolves around a surgeon grappling with anger issues, was a huge success at the box office and among critics as well. Played by Vijay Deverakonda, the films follows Arjun’s life as he goes into a downward spiral after his girlfriend gets married to someone else. The film also features Shalini Pandey, Rahul Ramakrishna and Jia Sharma in leading roles.
On the professional front, Shahid is currently shooting for Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu with co-stars Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. He is also speculated to team up with Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon for a real-life story that is set to go on the floors by the year-end.
