Neena Gupta On Masaba Gupta’s Divorce: “Fayda Kya Hai Itna Paise Kharcha Kar K Shaadi Karo Aur Fir….”

Neena Gupta is certainly not one to mince her words. While she has been very vocal about having a child out of wedlock and then choosing to be a single mother in a time when it was a big taboo, Neena has also been upfront about talking about the hardships that her daughter faced.

Now while the veteran actress has chosen to maintain a stoic silence on her daughter’s divorce with Ex-Husband Madhu Mantena so far, Neena has now decided to spill the beans on the same. Speaking to Pinkvilla about the same, Neena has been quoted saying, “I was devastated when I heard it. Actually, it was Masaba who helped me come to terms with it. Initially, I couldn’t accept it at all and it affected me.”

Neena further revealed that there was one point in life where Masaba had asked her permission for a live-in relationship, but Neena had vehemently denied. But Neena now says that she has changed her mind about the concept of living in.

The Badhaai Ho! actress said, “I feel today I’ll tell her to go for a live-in. Fayda kya hai, itna paisa kharcha karke shaadi Karo and phir divorce kar lo. Toh live in hi kar lol.” But having a child out of wedlock and furthermore decided to raise the child had people develop a very different notion about the kind of person she is.

Neena concluded saying, “For some, I was brave. But it wasn’t about being brave. My media personality is very different from what I’m in real life. I think it’s not difficult to decide whether to have the baby or not. The decision is not as difficult but keeping up with your decision and what comes with it was. Initially, I was called brave and that gave a negative image to me. I don’t know why but suddenly I started getting these negative roles on TV.”

On the professional front, Neena Gupta was last seen in Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan where she has reunited with Ayushmann Khurrana and Gajraj Rao. The film, that deals with the sensitive issue of homosexuality, released on the 21st of February, 2020.
