Navneet Kaur Dhillon was crowned the Femina Miss India 2013, yesterday following an exuberant grand finale of the Golden Edition of the Beauty Pageant. Sobhita Dhulipala, finished first runner up and Zoya Afroz was the second runner up of the event. The three gorgeous girls who are all set to represent Indian glamour and brains at International platforms soon, were selected from the 23 finalists after a period of many months of rigorous grilling.

The special guests for the evening were actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra, who have both won Miss India-World titles in their respective years and went on to win the Miss World International titles as well. The event judges for the evening were Film maker Karan Johar, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Choreographer Shaimak Dawar, actresses Asin and Chitrangada Singh, beau actor John Abraham and ace fashion designer Ritu Kumar.

The evening was as immensely entertaining one filled with star studded performances. Making a stupendous re-entry on stage was the adorable trio of the Masti boys – Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, who were there to promote their upcoming film ‘Grand Masti’ giving the most notable performance of the evening.

Both Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra took to stage and performed their best, dazzling the audiences and setting the bar higher for the contestants, who were mesmerized by their predecessors. Sonu Nigam’s stage performance was heart wrenching as he delivered his most emotional songs.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who gave her first performance after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya, gave an impressive comeback most dignifiedly. Choreographer Shaimak Dawar reminisced on twitter, “Rehearsing with Aishwarya for Femina Miss India. Memories from when I choreographed her for Miss World. Don’t miss it today.”

Being the 50th edition of the Femina Miss India, this year was an unusually special one. Attempting to enhance a Pan-Indian approach, special care was taken to select girls from every nook and corner of the country. Special auditions were held in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa, Pune, Chandigarh, Indore and so on.

The final 10 semi finalists were all as competent as the other and gave the judges a hard time choosing between them. Finally following an array of indecision and doubts, the 3 girls, Navneet, Sobhita and Zoya ranked.

Sobhita was also crowned the Femina Miss Itimes Digital Diva by Karan Johar. She also received a cash prize of Rs 1 lac.
