The Manoj Bajpayee starrer, Chittagong, which has been awaiting a release for quite some time now, will finally hit the theatres, thanks to Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra, who will be presenting the film.
Chittagong, directed by Bedabrata Pain is set against the backdrop of a little known saga in 1930s British-occupied India – where a group of schoolboys and young women, led by a schoolteacher, Masterda Surya Sen dared to take on the British Empire. The film is slated to release in early 2012.
Said Sunil Bohra, “Anurag is a good friend. He liked the film a lot and told me about it. We are jointly presenting the film and we will try and ensure that the film has a wide release like any other commercial film.”
Director Bedabrata Pain commented, “The small delay was blessing in disguise as it gave us some more time to do the patch work better. I am deeply honoured that respected filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rakeysh Mehra, Ketan Mehta and others have loved the film, and I am thrilled that Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra are releasing the film now.”
