After much anticipated and a wait of over 2 years, Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan is finally hitting the theaters on screen this Eid 2024. The trailer of the film has been dropped, and if you describe the entire trailer in a single word, then it is Powerful.

After Tanhaji, Ajay Devgn plays another unsung hero from the history of India, Sir Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach of the Indian Football team, who made sure that India grabbed the gold medal not once but twice.

Maidaan is a story of the determination and grit of a single man who maximizes his positivity and strength and divides it amongst his boys to prepare a world-class team. But what is a win without challenges? The film is about challenges, and Ajay Devgn rules on-screen every single time he tries to hustle.

Before we proceed to the major highlights of this 2-minute 43-second trailer, let us address the most challenging part – Shah Rukh Khan. As soon as the trailer drops, the story of uniting a team and making it the strongest National Team is the story that will be compared with Shah Rukh Khan & his gang of girls in Chak De India.

Even in the trailer, when Ajay Devgn boosts the morale of his boys, you unintentionally think about Shah Rukh Khan‘s Sattar Minute. The memory is so powerfully etched in our hearts. So, it is like paving a road in a mountain for Ajay Devgn and his boys in Maidaan to overrule a memory so fresh and loved.

The good parts of the Maidaan trailer seem to be aligned perfectly. Ajay Devgn’s dialogue delivery and his love for the nation to Priyamani’s character as a supporting wife. Even his boys offer a perfect tease. The music by AR Rahman instantly uplifts the entire trailer.

Of course, when Devgn, as a coach, struggles and is nervous, you feel for him; as usual, his eyes and his gestures do the talking and take the lead rather than some poetic dialogues. The best part of the trailer is that you know the climax. You know it is the story of the Indian Football team winning the Gold medals, but you want to live the journey through Sir Syed Abdul Rahim’s struggle and determination.

Helmed by Amit Sharma, Ajay Devgn is bringing alive a man who changed the fate of football in this country, and while he is ready to bring to us a Maidaan that sealed the fate of India, we feel Eid is going to be much celebratory with such a perfect commercial entertainer.

Maidaan stars Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and others. The film was produced by Boney Kapoor, directed by Amit Sharma, and the music was by AR Rahman. Maidaan releases on Eid 2024.
