Late Actress-turned-Politician Jayalalithaa’s two consecutive biopics, first a web series Queen starring Ramya Krishnan and Kangana Ranaut starrer film Thalaivi are in the headlines for the objections raised. The Madras High Court on Thursday has rejected a plea to put a stay on the veteran politician’s biopics and below is all you need to know.

Late Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar had filed a plea to stop the making of the two biopics on the life of the actor-politician. Turned out that in a hearing Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy concluded that though Deepa has the right to privacy, Thalaivi director AL Vijay has cleared that she won’t be featured in the film as reported by The Hindu.

Director of Queen, Gautham Menon, argued that his series is a work of fiction. The court directed him to not use any character that resembles Deepa.

Deepa earlier had demanded that the scripts of the projects should be given to her to read and check and her permission should be mandatory to go ahead. She had raised concerns over the portrayal of the late politician and herself.

While there is no update on the release date of Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi, the first look of the same is out. Ramya starrer Queen is up for the release on December 14 this year on streaming platform Mx Player.
