Aamir Khan and Bhushan Kumar have officially blocked the Christmas 2019 slot for the release of Gulshan Kumar’s Biopic, Mogul. The movie is said to be the most ambitious project for T-Series, and it will be jointly produced by Aamir Khan under his banner Aamir Khan Productions. Although there is no clarity about star-cast of the film, it is almost certain that Aamir won’t act in the film and merely back it as a producer.
The announcement by T-Series and Aamir Khan surprised a lot of people in the trade primarily because the release date was initially blocked by Salman Khan for the release of Kick 2 directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. However, sources reveal that the sequel to 2014’s blockbuster has been put on hold as of now due as the makers are unable to lock a screenplay that justifies the need of sequel. There have been a lot of brain storming sessions with Salman Khan, however nothing excited Khan and Nadiadwala, because of which they took the call to keep the sequel on hold for the time being.

On the sets of Bharat, Bhushan spoke to Salman about the status of Kick 2, wherein Khan said that the film has been temporarily put on hold, and it will go on floors only once the script has been finalized. With Christmas being empty for the time being, Bhushan discussed with Aamir about the possibility of getting Mogul during the festive period and both the producers believed that it is the best period for the film to release.

The scripting is still in progress and Aamir Khan is personally looking into the technical aspects of the film. Khan has kept his production house away from mediocre content and even with Mogul, the effort is to make a wholesome entertainer. The movie will go on floors by early next year and hit the big screen during the Christmas 2019 weekend, which as of now is empty. The makers are looking to cast an “A List” star in the film, and an official announcement about the lead actor will be made in a couple of months.
The trade believes that another film will clash with Mogul during the festive period, however there is no clarity as to which film would that be. As things stand today, Kick 2 has been put on hold for an infinite period and will be back on track only and only after locking a screenplay. If Nadiadwala’s team of writers are unable to lock the screenplay by October/November this year, the team will officially announce the delay in the project, but till then, the suspense about Kick 2 will stay intact.
