As Bollywood fans we go to watch a film for a variety of reasons – sometimes because we have loved the promos, the music, because our favourite actor stars in the movie, etc. But sometimes, we go because we want to know how a particular actor would do when paired with another actor s/he has never worked with before. Koimoi.com profiles some such fresh Bollywood pairings which will be seen over the next few months.
Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan in ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’
While much was being made of the news that Katrina Kaif might be casted opposite mamu Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 – a rumour that has since been dispelled – the jodi of Katrina and Imran Khan in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is no less explosive. One look at the promos of the YRF film and you’ll agree that their chemistry seems bang on. Incidentally, the star duo has also single-handedly taken up the charge of promoting the film all over the media. If their smiling faces in the promos and in their television appearances are anything to go by, this fresh pair sure has a surprise in store for us…
Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in ‘Mausam’
This looks like another new pair that is catching the audience’s fancy. Although Shahid has been around for quite some time and Sonam is relatively new in the film industry, the chemistry between them is evident from the much-loved trailer of the film.
John Abraham and Genelia D’Souza in ‘Force’
John Abraham and Genelia D’Souza’s was a Bollywood jodi that was meant to be. For, although the producer of the film, Vipul Shah, had considered and even approached several other heroines, including Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra for the film, his efforts came to naught. Finally the choice of the heroine’s role fell upon Genelia D’Souza. Don’t they look good together?
Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in ‘Rockstar’
This one’s an absolutely fresh pair – a debutante heroine and Bollywood’s blue-eyed boy, Ranbir Kapoor. They do make a really endearing couple going by the trailer of the film. Their chemistry will obviously add to the crowds that will queue to watch the film come 11-11-11, that is, November 11, 2011.
Vidya Balan, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi in ‘The Dirty Picture’
Why The Dirty Picture has generated such a lot of heat (literally!) is not just because of the semi-sleazy nature of its poster and trailers but also because the pairing in the film is absolutely new. Where else would you expect to see Vidya Balan with Tusshar Kapoor or Vidya Balan with Emraan Hashmi? Of course, Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya have worked together in Ishqiya before.
Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan in ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’
This might be Imran Khan’s best year so far. He had a hit in Delhi Belly, he’s got MBKD coming up and now this. Earlier titled termed Short Term Shaadi, and now called Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, this Karan Johar production will see lucky guy Imran Khan and the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor come together (no pun intended) on screen for the first time. By the way, after having worked with Salman Khan in Bodyguard, Kareena is also working with SRK in RA.One and Saif in Agent Vinod. Isn’t she, not Imran, really the lucky ‘un?
Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Joker’
Next year we will see the release of Joker, Sonakshi Sinha’s second film after Dabangg. Of course, Akshay Kumar could have been paired opposite any other established heroine with whom he has done films earlier, but director Shirish Kunder opted for a fresh pairing for his 3D film.
