Takht has been making headlines ever since its first announcement. Right from its impressive ensemble cast to being touted as Karan Johar’s dream project, the period drama has gotten everyone’s attention. But the COVID-19 outbreak halted any progress that the film would have made in these months. So now, it looks like Karan Johar and team have new plans.
Karan Johar is reportedly collaborating with Ranveer Singh for yet another project that will release before Takht. While Takht has an impressive ensemble, the new outing will be shouldered solely by Ranveer. A certain source close to these developments has been quoted by Pinkvilla saying, “Karan was already working on another script from earlier this year, which he wants to direct. When the Corona outbreak started, Karan was already in talks with his team and then, he decided to go ahead with the second script he had in hand. The film is a rom-com in the space that KJo specialises in.”

The same source has further revealed to the publication, “Unlike Takht which has a huge ensemble, this film will be a solo lead hero starrer which will have Ranveer playing to the gallery. Ranveer and Karan discussed the idea and he really liked it. Everything is in place and they will soon chalk out a schedule to roll the movie.”

Ranveer Singh in the meantime has his hands full with Kabir Khan’s sports drama ’83 and YRF’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar ready for release. It is also being reported that Ranveer will soon be re-collaborating with his Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar for a gangster film.
For those who have joined in late, Takht is being touted as Karan Johar’s dream project and is a historical drama that narrates the story of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shikoh, and their fight for the throne. While Vicky Kaushal plays Aurangzeb and Ranveer will play Dara Shikoh, the evergreen Anil Kapoor will essay the role of Mughal king, Shahjahan.
