Karan Johar, whose directorial venture featuring the new teenage sensations Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra was making quite a ripple in the industry, has grabbed tabloid headlines once again. Well, this time, KJo’s much ambitioned project Student Of The Year is in news for bagging a lucrative deal by selling its distribution rights for a quantitatively high price.
The film, featuring three Bollywood debutantes for the year, has been riding high, courtesy its extensive promotional spree and the lovable tracks. In spite of no big name to bank upon, trade analysts are extremely enthusiastic and looking forward to this college saga, that has romance, friendship, fights and a battle line as its pivotal theme.

The distribution rights have been sold for a remarkably high price, one that is quite unlikely for a film starring three B-town newcomers. But the wide audience acceptance of the film’s music and the fresh faces has left all equations topsy turvy. Though, it doesn’t boast of a Khan, Kapoor or a Kumar, Karan’s ‘SOTY’ has been one of the most anticipated films since the very inception. Youngistan too is quite excited for this bubbly refreshing love tale embellished with aims and ambitions and thus, the film has achieved such gravitas.
From a rocking disco number to a groovy Vele and a soulful Ishq wala Love, Vishal-Shekhar;s creative genius has been put in to effective use in producing an album that has a blend of everything. More than the songs, the cool dudes and the pretty woman of the much awaited Oct 19 release have been successful in roping a huge fan base for them, and for the film as well!
Now, what’s left to be seen is whether the film rises up to the expectations and all the euphoria that envelops it.
