Chashme Baddoor continues to find itself out of favour and has now been pushed further away. It has been edged out by Kai Po Che! which features three relative newcomers (Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar Yadav) in principal roles and is made by two film director Abhishek Kapoor. The sad part is that the David Dhawan film has been seeing constant movement in plans for quite some time now.
“Even though the film stars Ali Zafar in lead along with Siddharth and Divyendu of Rang De Basanti and Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame respectively, it has seen a constant shift in plans. It was first meant to arrive in August this year. Then it was expected that it would eventually releases during winters. Finally it was confirmed that 22nd February would be the due date for the film. However with Kai Po Che! arriving on this date, there is no sign of Chashme Baddoor for the time being at least”, says a source.
This is particularly disheartening for David Dhawan since his last release Rascals was badly panned and it was expected that remake of this much cherished namesake film by Sai Paranjpe would bring him back into the reckoning.
“Once Student Of The Year had turned into a hit, there were even talks of Varun Dhawan enhancing the film’s prospects by doing a special promotional number for Chashme Baddoor. However there has been no news around any such development post that,” the source adds.
Meanwhile Kai Po Che! promotion has kick-started and ended up surprising quite a few with it’s visuals bringing back memories of Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots and Yuva to name a few. As for Ali Zafar and company, the wait continues.
