Join UsThe trailer of Jolly LLB 2 starring Akshay Kumar in the lead was released this morning. The film has been in the news for being Akshay’s fastest considering, he wrapped up the entire shoot in merely 30 days.
The film is a sequel to 2013 drama Jolly LLB which starred Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in lead roles. This time, director Subhash Kapoor ups his game by casting Akshay in the lead. From the trailer, it looks like the script has been rightly penned keeping in mind, the actor’s ability to pull off humor and wit.
The crux of this film, just like its prequel, still remain the dialogues. It is difficult to tell when the humor gets serious and how the script tactfully makes you think. Of course, if comparisons are drawn to the prequel, this one seems a little forced on the whole wit quotient while the previous one was natural. Since Kapoor roped in Akshay as the lead, one was certainly expecting the film to get commercially appealing. Inclusion of a ‘Holi’ song is quite a big indication of that.
What’s best about the trailer is, how in spite of the over-the-top drama that suddenly unfolds when Akshay’s character becomes serious to win the biggest case of his life, the transofrmation that is seen in his act is surely commendable.
Supporting cast of Saurabh Shukla, Annu Kapoor and Huma Qureshi is also strong enough.
Courtroom dramas have been doing quite well in Bollywood in recent times. We have seen how Akki’s Rustom and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Pink have been successful films this year. Also, with back to back hits, Akshay has surely been on a roll and we expect him to keep the momentum going in 2017 too.
