Last year, he surprised one and all when his Satyameva Jayate took a huge opening on Independence Day. Despite facing challenge from Akshay Kumar’s Gold and in spite of the ‘adults only’ certificate, his action drama raked in huge numbers on the day of release and eventually turned out to be a major hit.
Circa 2019 and John Abraham is quite excited about the arrival of Batla House. Yet again, it is an independence day release and competition too is in the form of an Akshay Kumar starrer, Mission Mangal. This time around though, the film is a U/A affair which means children too can watch the encounter drama on the big screen, albeit with their parents.

For the actor who has been around for over a decade and a half, these are indeed good times as producers, distributors and exhibitors are putting great deal of trust in him to deliver, and that too in a big way. If insider reports are any indication, the film is seeing a major release and could well be the biggest ever for a John Abraham solo. This isn’t all as especially at the single screen theaters, Batla House is seeing quite some traction going for it, hence ensuring good moolah that could well come in from the masses.
As an actor, John has been fluctuating well between the masses as well as the class audience. If he is catering to the mass audience with films like Satyameva Jayate, Welcome Back, Force 2 and Shootout at Wadala, there is class audience happy to catch him in films as distinct as Parmanu: The Story of Pokharan, Dishoom and Madras Cafe.

No wonder, Batla House is turning out to be a perfect mix which offers entertainment for mass as well as class audience. The fact that John Abraham is playing a cop in the film automatically lends him to the mass audience. On the other hand the fact that this one is expected to be an entertainingly told real life account of what indeed happened in the 2008 Batla House encounter promises good entertainment for the multiplex ‘junta’ too.
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect too, what with the film arriving on Independence Day. Considering the nationalistic and patriotic flavor that Batla House is expected to carry, John Abraham indeed has got his groove right with this Nikkhil Advani directed film and is pretty much set to impress audiences all over again on 15th August.
