‘Lagta hai bahaut hi khul kar acting kari hai’ – That’s what many seem to be observing ever since the promo of Sidharth Malhotra’s upcoming film Jabariya Jodi has been unveiled. Though the actor has done films across varied genres, somehow his characters have been quite subtle in their approach, be it a family drama like Kapoor & Sons or even an action emotional affair like Ek Villain. However going by the promo of Jabariya Jodi, this one seems to be a game changer of sorts.

“He has let himself loose with this film, it’s as simple as that,” says a filmmaker, “It is tough indeed to get into the kind of persona that is flashy enough to reach out to the masses in a big way. One wrong move and you never know how something vibrant turns out to be an overkill on screen. To strike a balance is what makes an act on screen special as it need to be convincing even if set in a commercial potboiler zone. So far, Sidharth seems to have got that right.”
This can indeed be seen from the fact that just 24 hours after the promo launch, there has been an air of positivity around what Sidharth and the team of Jabariya Jodi is bringing on screen.
“It has been a holds no bar approach taken by Sidharth in this film,” says a close associate of the actor, “So many times a characterisation is such that you can’t really afford to play to the gallery. Sidharth has predominantly done films which have an inherent classy feel to them. Moreover, his persona is such that he comes across as this Mr. Nice Guy who can never do anything wrong. Now Jabariya Jodi is a different world altogether as he is naughty and mischievous but still very loveable.”

That’s what made Sidharth pick up this part as well as he wanted to explore a territory that was entirely different from anything that he had done before.
“Exactly,” says Sidharth, “It is exciting to play a character like this which people have never seen you as before. It was so much fun doing this film though as you can go all out in making this character come alive. Of course a lot of effort goes behind the scenes in making it right for screen. However, as is the saying, the best of the efforts are those that are invisible. So if someone says that what they have seen on screen is effortless then I guess I have done my job as an actor.”
Well, we would like to hear that even louder once this Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh’s production hits the screens on 2nd August.
