Is Karan Johar the Vijay Dinanath Chauhan of real life? In his late father, Yash Johar’s Agneepath, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan was the name of the character played by Amitabh Bachchan. In Karan Johar’s Agneepath, that is the name of Hrithik Roshan’s character. In the film, Vijay attempts to restore the lost honour of his late father by avenging his (father’s) murder and by clearing his name. In real life also, Karan Johar, in a manner of speaking, was trying to restore the lost ‘honour’ of his late father by remaking Agneepath and ensuring that it would succeed at the box-office this time. For, according to son Karan, his father was saddened when Agneepath had bombed at the box-office. And, if one may say so, a producer does lose face (read honour) when he loses money in a film. Anyway, in Agneepath, Vijay succeeds when he kills Kancha, and thereby clears his father’s name. In real life, the success of the new Agneepath has, in a way, made son Karan restore the lost ‘honour’ of his late father.
