Only 20 days remain for the release of year’s biggest film till date, ‘Ek Tha Tiger‘, and still there is no sign yet of the lead pair Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. In the times when much smaller films see an escalation in its marketing and promotional drives, Yash Raj Films seems to be taking it rather easy when it comes to their flagship project.
“So far whatever one has seen of the film is through its theatrical promos and songs. The stars are yet to come out in open and it is rather surprising because now is just the time for them to start talking about the film. Of course the film is a brand in itself and there are so many positives attached to it. However eventually it is the stars that sell and they need to be seen”, says a marketing guru.
However it seems like there would be still some more time before one starts hearing Salman and his wisecracks. Reason being that he is currently shooting for ‘Dabangg 2‘ and the schedule would get over only at month end. On the other hand Katrina too has been occupied with her Shahrukh starrer for the same production and her dates with Salman have to be matched before they hit the centre stage.
“It is not unusual though for Yash Raj to follow this strategy. They are usually more aggressive when films starring relatively smaller stars are released, case in point being a ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan‘ (Imran Khan) or a ‘Ladies v/s Ricky Behl‘ (Ranveer Singh) or an ‘Ishaqzaade‘ (Arjun Kapoor). For these films they have to reach out much more aggressively. On the other hand they are right to feel that for Salman and Katrina, they would anyways gain good eyeballs in quickest possible time”, says an insider.
Well, whatever be the belief here, the fact remains that it won’t harm for the film to start capitalising on the hype it has gained so far. In fact one would have expected the film’s director Kabir Khan to be a little rattled as well but he is keeping rather calm. In his recent tweet he stated, “Don’t worry, there are good promotional plans on the way. The moment Salman is through with the schedule of ‘Dabangg 2‘, we will get started.”
Hope it is not too late!
