Rani Mukerji is looking her boisterous best with Mardaani. Though many claim that the diction and demeanor is too close to her earlier film No One Killed Jessica, the actress in the recent times has probably made a conscious effort to stick to women oriented films that has a female leading the bastion.
Ask Rani, if it is a deliberate attempt and she says, “No it is not. I have only taken films that have come my way. Actors don’t choose to do anything. We actors are never role makers. It is the writers; when they write a character, they visualize whom they want to cast for the role. Probably I have reached a stage where the director and writer have seen that side of personality to come to me with a role like this.”
Rani is best known for her romantic films, be it Saathiya or even the Karan Johar magnum opus-es she has been a part of. At a time, Rani’s chemistry with King Khan especially after Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna made it to the headlines. It was easy to ask the actress, who recently tied the knot with YRF honcho – Aditya Chopra, how much of a filmy romantic is she. She replies with a laugh, “I am married to the source of all romance. The romance of Shah Rukh Khan, one can remember the roles and films all written by my husband. I am married to the source of SRK’s romance. He is the one who has written Raj, he is the one who created Raj. Though he is much into work et al, he is the source of prototype romance in the industry.”
Rani is all set to appear in Pradeep Sarkar’s Mardaani which is to release on 22nd August.
