Alia Bhatt might be a newbie to this industry, but the actress coming from the background she does understand well what pulls the crowd for which genre.
In an interview with Koimoi when she was asked what kind of opening is she expecting for the film, she said, “If the film records a great opening, good for us. But the opening of the film won’t be because of me. It will be because of Imtiaz Ali. People have loved his films, adored his films. And when there is such depths of genuine love, it matters way more than box office.”
Interestingly, the good opening of Student Of The Year can be attributed to more brushed up marketing skills of Dharma but mainly because of Alia Bhatt. Dharma and Red Chillies’ previous production Always Kabhi Kabhi that had flaunted a cast full of newbies couldn’t pronounce for itself a similar success spell. SOTY benefited a lot from Alia’s smashing persona however, Highway as per the actress will work for Imtiaz’s charisma.
On being asked what are her plans in the industry, Alia’s naive confidence insisted, “I want to be an actor then a superstar.” Ask her how far has she reached that in her life, she says, “I am a zero so far.”
Meanwhile Highway was screened at the Berlin Film Festival and many veterans have witnessed a dampening of their expectation. Though the film is yet to hit the theaters in worldwide, here’s Koimoi wishing Alia our best wishes.
