A lot has been said about Shekhar Kapur’s Paani over the years. It was scripted 15 long years ago, and over the years has become the driving force and passion for Shekhar Kapur. The ace director tweeted, “When first wrote Paani? 15 years ago. But no one thought it would be such a big issue then. Richard Attenborough said it took him 20 years to get Gandhi made. I guess every director has such a passion.”
Paani is a very far-sighted story, which presents the water wars that would break in the coming times, and would depict how the powerful ones would use mankind’s craving for water as means of control. In those times, blossoms a love tale and that becomes the central idea of the film.
Kapur was looking for a producer since years and finally after delaying and shelving off the project for quite a few years, Shekhar has finally found solace under the Yash Raj Banner, as Aditya Chopra is game for spilling 30 million dollars.“Have always waited 2 do Paani with a producer that clearly saw my vision of the film, loved it, n added to it.Found that in Adi Chopra,” wrote the 66 year old, virtuoso director on his twitter handle.
Final confirmations about the development of lead cast are yet to come, but the movie is soon to go on floors in 2013 and the music director who has been zeroed on is A.R.Rahman.
