Reportedly, Karan has been served with a notice twice for the violation of the COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) Act and could be sent to jail for a period of 5 years and along with a penalty of Rs. 2000. Karan is not alone in this, even the people related to the show, who had agreed to telecast the ‘surrogated ad’ were also found guilty in this incident.
All of them who have been accused in this case, have been given a timeline of 10 days to send their answers. If any of them fails to do so a case will be registered against that particular company and its owner by the Delhi Health Department. The reason cited for raising the concern is that India’s Next Superstar mostly has youngsters as their viewers and the ad of Kamla Pasand could have a bad impact on their mind.
