The bubbly Preity Zinta turns 37 today (January 31, 2012). She is a well-known Bollywood actress, entrepreneur and social worker.
Preity Zinta, a criminal psychology post-graduate, was born in Himachal Pradesh.

Zinta got her acting break in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se (1998), where she played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s fiancée.

Her portrayal of a single mother in the film Kya Kehna (2000) proved to be her breakthrough role. Her performance in this woman-oriented film was widely appreciated.
Preity was again paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Nikhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003. In the same year, she was also seen opposite Hrithik Roshan in the sci-fi film Koi… Mil Gaya. Both the films did good business at the box-office and made Preity one of the leading actresses of that time.
Her success continued in 2004 with Yash Chopra’s Veer-Zaara, where she played the role of Pakistani girl. She worked opposite Shah Rukh Khan again in this film.
In 2008, Preity acted in her first English film, Rituparno Ghosh’s The Last Lear opposite Amitabh Bachchan.
Preity was seen last in Heroes opposite Salman Khan in 2008 and the film failed at the box-office. She is making her comeback with the film Har Pal opposite Shiney Ahuja, the film is expected to release in mid-2012.
Preity Zinta acquired ownership rights for a cricket team of IPL (Indian Premier League) called Kings XI Punjab in 2008 and since then has been involved very passionately with the team’s performance and promotion.
Apart from the films and IPL, Preity has been involved with a lot of charitable and social work like AIDS awareness campaigns and campaigns against female infanticide in India. She has also written some columns for BBC News Online, highlighting the problems faced by women in India.
