Katrina Kaif has been a bomb in the Hindi film industry for the past 16 years. A real beauty with brains Katrina could inspire even a couch potato to workout and stay motivated. Her screen presence is magical and her personality is dynamic. A brim of positivity, she has emerged like a Goddess from the ashes post her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor. She is also very well known for her dancing and acrobatics skills. Her latest films Zero and Bharat acclaimed a lot of appreciation for her strong acting skills. She indeed is a kickass woman because she knows to handle her naysayers really well. Let’s take a look at her journey in the Hindi film industry.

Born to Mohammed Kaif and Susanna Turquotte, Katrina is a half Britain and half Indian. Her father is of the Kashmiri decent she had begun her debut in the year of 2003 with Kaizad Gustad’s Boom. Katrina also starred in south films – Malliswari and Allari Pidugu in Telugu and Balram VS Taradas in Malayalam.

Happy Birthday Katrina Kaif: Redefining 'Beauty With Brains' Since 2005!
Happy Birthday Katrina Kaif: Redefining ‘Beauty With Brains’ Since 2005!

She rose to fame in 2005 with Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, where the rumours were rife about her dating Salman. They both had started their first film from here. Katrina’s most loved film was Namastey London where she essayed the role of a British-Indian woman who is forced to get married to Akshay Kumar on a trip to India. She made a mark in the industry with films like Apne (2007), Partner (2007) and Welcome (2007). Her negative on screen character as Sophia in Race (2008) garnered her a lot of praise. We can’t forget the song Zara Zara Touch Me by Monali Thakur in which Kaif is wearing a revealing one-piece dress and grooves sensuously on Saif Ali Khan.

She has done seven films with our very own ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar. The Kumar-Kaif pair was a hit at the screens with Singh Is Kinng (2008). Her character of Maya in Yash Raj’s film New York 2009 was something that she related to her real self. Kaif had never done a Yashraj film before this and coming from a mainstream cinematic background, she shot an unusual concept film ditching the usual commercial formula. Katrina was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

The blooming romance of Katrina and Ranbir Kapoor blossomed in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) which was a hit.

We can’t forget her item song ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ from the 2010 Farah Khan’s film Tees Maar Khan. It was a bombastic hit amidst the Indian masses, as the silk covers and Kaif added a sultry effect. The song pictured on Ranbir and Katrina from Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti Mora Piya Moh Sei Bolat Nahi is just surreal. In Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Katrina’s character as the ‘Dreamy Laila’ is the ultimate Bohemian chic who essays the role of a scuba dive instructor. She is in her best as she teaches diving to Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar. She rose the heat also in the remake of Hrithik’s Agneepath, with the song Chikni Chameli. It was one of the most loved songs.

What I love about this strong and independent woman is that she gracefully came over her heartbreak with so much of peace and positivity. She taught us a lot from her acting, her emotions, pain and love. She made her own identity and rebuilt herself. Wishing this wonder-woman a very happy birthday!
