Omi Vaidya, better known as Chatur or Silencer after his memorable performance in 3 Idiots, is now on your television screens from February 26. No, he’s not doing a reality show, as was rumoured. Instead, the actor’s Indian TV debut is in the form of an advertisement for IndusInd Bank.

Directed by Imitaz Ali, the advertising campaign consists of a series of three ads. It has Omi playing the part of a nagging husband, Mr. Chowgule. In a conversation with KoiMoi, Omi shared, “I have been told that both, the client and Imtiaz, recommended me for the husband’s character in the ad. After reading the script, I had no reason to say ‘no’. I had lots of fun shooting the ads.”

This is Omi’s first commercial ad deal in India, although he has been approached by many ad agencies after his instant rise to fame post the success of 3 Idiots. In the commercials, Omi plays husband to Shruti Seth (Comedy Circus and Rishtey.com). They respond to each other in the ads as if they are interacting in their day-to-day lives.

Each conversation between the two is humorous and ends with a focused message about one of the services which is offered by the bank.
