Join Us#BoycottFilmfare: Filmfare Awards is one of the most prestigious awards function where Bollywood celebrities are rewarded for their hard work. This time the function took place on February 15th in Guwahati and was ruled over by Gully Boy. The Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt starrer film bagged as many as 13 awards at the starry night.
While the Gully Boy fans felt that the film deserved all the recognition, many Twitter users were upset that other equally talented artists and films did not get the recognition they needed. #BoycottFilmfare started trending on twitter in no time as people called out the award function for being bais and questioned their credibility.
The users talked about how Ananya Pandey did not deserve to win the Best Debut award and discussed how Shahid Kapoor was more deserving to win the Best Actor Male award for his acting in Kabir Singh. Many were upset that Ranveer Singh’s song ‘Apna Time Aayega’ won an award instead of Kesari’s song ‘Teri Mitti’. A pool of memes around the same circulated online. Take a look:

Earlier, Sidharth Chaturvedi, who won the award for Best Supporting Role, said that it was his dream to win the Best Debut Award but is glad to have bagged an award for his work in Gully Boy. He said awards don’t pressurise him and he is now only focused on working on his next film.
Sidharth had told BT, “I am very happy that my parents and my brother are also here with me to share the moment. I am glad that Abhimanyu Dassani won the Best Debutant award. He is a very hardworking guy. Winning that award (Best Debut) was also a dream for me.”
