Priyanka Chopra has been riding quite high on the huge critical and mass appreciation that she received for her almost perfect portrayal of the autistic Jhilmil Chatterjee in Barfi!. Now, two months post the Barfi! release, Piggy Chops is back to work and guess what, it’s time for Zanjeer.
Yes, Priyanka Chopra is slated to play the female lead in the remake of the iconic Amitabh Bachchan starrer Zanjeer. She essays the role that was previously played by Jaya Bachchan in the 1973 original. The actress, who has already reached Hyderabad and has started shooting for the film wrote on Twitter, “In Hyderabad for Zanjeer. Starting a new film always makes me nervous.”
Her director-actor friend Farhan Akhtar who had been instrumental in shaping her career gifting her films like Don and Don 2 retorted back with another tweet, which is no less than a warning to the glam doll.
Priyanka who has already been parts of other remakes of Amitabh Bachchan flicks, Don and Agneepath, was warned by his friend to avoid getting stereotyped. “Priyanka Chopra, do you realise that this is the third official remake of Amitabh Bachchan you are in? Be careful you don’t get typecast” was what Farhan had to advise Priyanka.
The remake, that is slated for a 2013 global release stars Priyanka opposite Southern Superstar Ram Charan Teja and is helmed by Apporva Lakhia. Anil Mehra is producing the film as a tribute to his late father Prakash Mehra, the original maker of the 1973 super hit film.
