Over his glorious years in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has tasted the success like no one else. He has been continuously ruling the box office by delivering some of the biggest hits of Bollywood.
Ever since the inception of 100 crore club, 200 crore club, Shah Rukh Khan has fetched some big records under his kitty. With Happy New Year, he held the record for delivering the biggest Bollywood opening in history for a long time. It is only in the last few years that King Khan’s ride at the ticket windows hasn’t been that smooth. But guess what? Contrary to his commercial success, he’s been very consistent in one area and living up to his word.

It traces down to the pre-release period of Chennai Express when Shah Rukh Khan appeared in Tata tea advertisement. It was specially dedicated to Women First initiative. Directed by R Balki, the ad was made to bring a change in attitude towards women. In the ad, Shah Rukh takes a pledge of putting the actress’ name first in the credits of the film. Since then, the actor has been following it to date.

In Chennai Express, one can see Deepika Padukone’s name appearing before Shah Rukh Khan’s in the credits. Post the Rohit Shetty directorial, each of films including- Happy New Year, Dilwale, Raees, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero, features actress’ name at first in the credits.
In such a praiseworthy tradition only YRF’s Fan is an exception, where Shah Rukh Khan’s name appears first. But in Fan’s case, it’s understandable as the film solely revolved around two male characters, played by Khan.
