Last month ended on an unexpected note when we lost Bollywood’s legend, Rishi Kapoor. The late actor was battling Leukemia for almost two years. Now, in an exclusive conversation with Koimoi, Taapsee Pannu relived her fondest memories and regrets with the veteran actor.
For the unversed, Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor had worked together on 2 films – Chashme Baddoor (2013) and Mulk (2018). Talking about the same, the Thappad actress shared, “I recall every day that I worked with him on the sets of Mulk. During Chashme Baddoor, I had a very brief interaction with him. Since Mulk happened, every day was a new fun day with him. Once you get to know him, his personality, and his nature, it’s fun to have him around. He used to have the most amazing stories because he has seen so many narrations. Between the scenes, time used to be fabulous with him on sets.”
She also recalled the time when Rishi Kapoor praised her acting skills. “His compliments would give the true Punjabi feels. Like the whole way of saying it all out loudly. You sometimes feel like ‘Is he scolding me?’ I remember he used to hate the fact that I used to work out so much. He used to show me my own pictures from Chashme Badddoor and used to tell me, ‘why you becoming so thin.’ He used to be upset every morning he saw me in the gym while we were stepping out to go to the sets,” said Taapsee Pannu.

Taapsee Pannu continued, “He made me sit with him and told me, ‘What work are you doing!’ For once, I thought ‘Is he not liking it?’ He’s like, ‘Amazing. At this age, if you see the kind of films your contemporaries are doing vs you, it’s just so different and amazing.’”
Taapsee Pannu has a regret though. “I will probably miss the fact that I could never share a malt with him. Because I’m a teetotaler otherwise I would have loved to do that, which he really cherished,” she concluded.
