Join UsAkshay Kumar yesterday announced that he will be presenting the film Durgavati starring Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role. It is a thriller and will be going on floors in January 2020. Talking about the same is Bhumi, who in an exclusive chat reveals how she landed with Durgavati.
Bhumi who will be see in Durgavati spoke about how the film was on cards for a long time and Akshay approached her for the same. Bhumi said, “It’s been in the plans for the last few months actually. Akshay Kumar approached me, and it happened right after Sonchiriya released, so I was really thrilled because it was a tough time, let me just put it like that. The moment I heard it, I was on-board. I got the film because he (Akshay) saw my work in Sonchiriya.”
It was recently that Akshay announced the film with a tweet and wrote, “EXCITED to announce @bhumipednekar in & as #DURGAVATI. A scary-thriller, going on floor mid-January. Presented by #CapeOfGoodFilms and @itsBhushanKumar , produced by @vikramix and directed by Ashok. Need your love and luck @TSeries @Abundantia_Ent.”
The picture that Akshay shared has him, Bhumi, Bhushan Kumar and the director of the film Ashok. Durgavati is speculated to be the Hindi remake of Bhaagamathie. Though there are no confirmations about the same, the speculations are strong.

Bhumi was last seen in Saand Ki Aankh and is now gearing up for the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh starring Ananya Panday and Kartik Aaryan alongside her. The film is set to release on December 6, 2019.
