You realise that director S. Shankar is no stranger to working with big stars and making epic movies once you look through the filmography of his decade long career. He’s worked with the crème de la crème of Indian cinema like Arjun, Kamal Hassan, Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and has films like Gentleman, Jeans, Indian, Boys & Sivaji to his credit.

Pretty soon, we might be adding his next film Endhiran – The Robot to the list as well. While talking about his film, Shankar is keen not to market it as a film of any particular language, “I don’t sell this movie as a Hindi, Tamil or Telugu movie,” he explains as the film is going to be released in all three languages, “I would like to call this movie an Indian movie because the best talent in the country are a part of the movie.”

You’d think that Shankar is exaggerating, but he isn’t. The film stars south Indian superstar Rajnikant, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai and actor Danny Denzongpa. It is produced by the most profitable broadcaster in Asia, Kalanidhi Maran; the film’s sound engineer is Academy Award winning Resul Pookutty; the music is by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman, the climax has been choreographed by Prabhudeva and designer Manish Malhotra is in charge of the costumes. Shankar has left no stone unturned in the technical aspects either:  Yuen Woo Ping (The Matrix, Kill Bill series) is the action choreographer while Stanwinston Studio (Jurassic Park, Predator, Terminator, Iron Man, Avatar) provided the animatronics technology.
